Resources

The Land Conservation Department provides a variety of education resources for your reference. Many of these resources are available free of charge or for loan. Additional resources are provided as links to various websites. And others may direct your to a supplier for purchase.

 

Brochures

We have over 100 different brochures available on the following topics: composting, conservation programs, exotic invasive species, groundwater, manure runoff, nonpoint pollution, stormwater management, shoreland management, water quality, wildlife habitat, yard care, and zoning. You may contact us to recieve a copy of any brochure. If you wish to purchase large quantities, the supplier is listed next to the name of the brochure on our list and conatct numbers are provided. Videos

We have over two dozen different videos on the following topics: river ecology, backyard conservation, shoreland restoration, shoreland issues, wetlands, sealing a well, exotic invasive species, and ecosystem functions. The UW-Extension Environmental Resources Center library of land & water stewardship provides some excellent watershed newsletter articles.  The information can be freely adapted for other educational purposes.

These articles are of special interest to farmers, property owners, waterfront property owners and more. The Center for Land Use Education has produced a series of publications, some with the Department of Natural Resources and the Office of Land Information Services of the Department of Administration.  These fact sheets focus on runoff from impervious surfaces and the environmental impacts of rural development.  Select one below:
