Wildlife Damage Abatement & Claims Program WDACP

The Wisconsin Damage Abatement and Claims Program (WDACP) provides assistance to the “commercial” agricultural community. The program provides abatement and financial compensation for white-tail deer, black bear, Canada goose, and wild turkey damage to commercial seedlings, crops grown on agricultural land, damage to crops that have been harvested for sale or further use but have not been removed from the agricultural land, damage to orchard trees or nursery stock, damage to apiaries, and livestock. There are numerous requirements that program participants must meet.  View the WDNR website at http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/wildlife/damage/genrules.htm for more information.

Program abatement options include deer damage shooting permits, trapping and relocation of black bear, scare devices, repellents, permanent barrier fences and temporary electric fences.

The WDACP has annually funded a Deer Donation Program since 2000.  Donated deer carcasses are processed free of charge to the hunter, and the ground venison is distributed to the needy.  Check out the WDNR website for information on the donation program at: http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/wildlife/damage/
